For many of us in today’s society, not being able to drive a car is simply not an option. This is especially true for those who do not live near a comprehensive and effective metro system, or other public transportations system, that can help pick up the slack of not driving. It is not unusual, after all, to have a decent commute to work from your home, which means that you are in serious trouble if you lose your license and are no longer able to get to and from your workplace freely. You might also find yourself struggling to do simple things like buying groceries or visiting family members, too, which can negatively impact your quality of life quite a bit.

At Funk & Wendlinger, LLC, we understand that sometimes mistakes are made. That doesn’t mean that you deserve to lose your license over them, of course, especially not when doing so will only make the problem worse. Sometimes, however, life doesn’t work out exactly the way we think it should. You might find yourself already without a license, for example, which means that fighting the issue is already in the past. Should that have happened, do not despair! There are options for you to explore when it comes to legally driving. We can help you explore them.

There are many reasons behind a driver's license suspension. Sometimes you might get caught driving far too recklessly for the safety of others, for example, while other individuals might be caught driving while under the influence of some controlled substance or another, including things like alcohol, marijuana, or narcotics. Sometimes, of course, you might find your license suspended for something like allowing too many unpaid tickets to pile up. Whatever the reason, the fact of the matter is that finding yourself unable to drive can be a serious issue for a variety of reasons. This is especially true if you were the only person in your family driving, or if you live on your own and have no one around to help get you from appointments, to work, or to the grocery store.

If you are facing a driver's license suspension, you should hire an attorney experienced with driving regulations and vehicular law to help fight the charges and help you to keep your driver's license. If that is not an option, then it is time to look at Indiana’s specialize driving privilege law. This law is an important one for almost anyone who has a suspended license and had little hope of getting it back. This is also true even if you are facing an insurance suspension.

Indiana’s specialized driving privilege law is a way for individuals with suspended licenses to temporarily regain driving privileges until their case can undergo further review. That might sound like a longshot, however it is actually easier to talk about the people who will not quality than it is to talk about those that do.

You do not qualify for this provision if any of the following are true:

  • You never held a valid driver’s license in Indiana

  • You hold a CDL

  • You have, at any point in time, refused to submit to a chemical test, especially as offered according to IC 9-30-6

  • You have been convicted due to an offense with a vehicle that caused the death of someone else

  • You have previously received and subsequently violated specialized driving privileges

If none of the above apply to you, then you are able to apply for this provision in an attempt to regain your driving privileges.

To apply - speak with a qualified and experienced attorney who can help you through the process. At Funk & Wendlinger, LLC, our attorneys understand how specialized driving privileges, as well as license suspension in general, work. That means that we are able to represent you effectively and can help you regain your driving privileges, or avoid ever having them suspended in the first place.

Contact Funk & Wendlinger, LLC for help with your case. We are more than happy to discuss the specifics of your case, and determine if we can help you get your driving privileges back.
